Tidal Theory of Grammar- On the Fringe of the Southern and Northern Oceans

TMV Art Space, Shenzhen, China

20 May – 22 June 2026.

Curator · Group Exhibition

Tidal Theory of Grammar - On the Fringe of the Southern and Northern Oceans is a group exhibition curated by Ye Mengqi at Gaodi Art Space, Shenzhen. Bringing together works by Du Yang, Guo Jiahe, Hu Weiwei, Mo Li, Huang Haochuan, and Huang Xiaoqiong, the exhibition explores the shifting space between “Nanyang” and “Beiyang” not as fixed geographical coordinates, but as a fluid field of cultural memory, movement, and in-betweenness.

Through moving images, installation, photography, sound, archives, and mixed media practices, the exhibition considers the ocean as a space of transition, displacement, and poetic reconstruction. Rather than retelling history through a single narrative, Tidal Theory of Grammar gathers fragmented signals, materials, and visual languages to examine how identity, geography, and memory are shaped by tides, routes, and unresolved passages between places.
